Not feeling like lining up at an Apple Store for the new iPad? Walmart's 24-hour stores will start selling the least expensive version of it at 12:01 a.m. Friday, eight hours before Apple Stores open around the country.
One version, the 16GB model retailing for $499 will be available (in black or?white) for the early purchasers at Walmart.
"A limited supply of the new iPad will be available at your local 24-hour Walmart," a company representative said in an email to DailyTech.?"Other retailers? doors don?t open until 8 a.m. local time, so you can get to work on time and beat the rush by coming to Walmart."
Apple said this week its stores will open at 8 a.m. Friday, two hours earlier than normal, expecting a crush of iPad buyers.
Other retailers that will have the new iPad Friday include Best Buy, Target, Radio Shack and Sam's Club.
Walmart pushed its opening time ahead of other retailers last November for Black Friday, when it kicked off some of its sales at 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, rather than at midnight.
